The Faculty of Law at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität – one of the leading law faculties in Europe – offers a unique summer programme for young lawyers and law students. 

The LMU Munich University Summer Training in German and European Law programme provides an in-depth introduction to German and European Law and also includes organised visits to legal landmarks such as the Federal Constitutional Court and many other extracurricular activities. The courses are taught by distinguished lecturers who are renowned academics but also practitioners. 

MUST draws special attention to areas of law, which are of interest to foreign lawyers working in business law, i.e. German Contract Law, Competition Law and Tax Law.

Credit Equivalent 

6 ECTS = 2 UQ Units. Maximum of 2 UQ Units if 6 ECTS are successfully completed (pending UQ faculty approval).

BEL Faculty students may be eligible for credit towards #2 Level 5 Laws Elective as approved by the BEL Faculty. Credit must be confirmed with BEL Faculty to check suitability for your program requirements. You should consult with International Mobility Coordinator prior to submitting an application.

Eligibility and Application

All applicants must meet the UQ short-term experience eligibility criteria and the LMU entry requirements. 

Places are extremely limited and early application is encouraged. Students will be selected via an internal UQ selection committee after the UQ deadline.

Successful applicants will be nominated to LMU by UQ after the selection committee meeting following the application deadline and will be required to submit an online registration to the LMU directly. 

Cost

Tuition is paid to UQ. Accommodation fees are paid directly to LMU and are approximately $700 AUD. More information regarding fees can be found on the host university website. 

Applicants may also be eligible for UQ-specific funding.
