If you were a current Award participant at the beginning of 2017- you will notice there has been some changes to the structure of the Award program. These changes are based on student’s feedback, and are designed to make the program accessible to more students and help you to further develop your employability by incorporating a reflection component.

It’s important to note that you won’t be disadvantaged by these changes- and we are here to work with you to help you achieve the Award.

This page summarises the key changes you need to be aware of, and covers some frequently asked questions from existing participants.

Systems and verification

  • The process is now managed through StudentHub, rather than mySI-net. Your registration and your previously submitted activities and symposium have automatically been transferred over to the new system.


  • Your previously submitted activities have been transferred to the new activity structure categories/titles. You don’t have to re-submit anything you had already entered in mySI-net.


  • Your future or new activities will now include a reflection component.


  • The verification process has been removed and replaced with a self-reflective process to foreground employability development: the focus is now on you being able to reflect on the value of these experiences. Program conveners are no longer required to verify your participation.


  • You are now able to include a broader range of activities, with both UQ and externally facilitated activities counting towards achievement of the award (these can include casual employment or work experience).

    You are welcome to submit these in StudentHub straight away- refer to the new activities guide here.
  • The three categories (Global and Global Engagement, Research and Entrepreneurship, and Social Responsibility and Leadership), the levels, and 6 x Symposium Series have been replaced with:
    • Volunteering (100 hours)
    • Work Experience (100 hours)
    • Supplementary activities (5 activities)

The exclusive award symposium series is now a supplementary activity (for attendance at 3 or more sessions).

  • There are no longer time limits to submitting retrospective activities (the 12month restriction has been removed).  Again - you are now invited to submit any activities you have completed during your time at UQ - even if they’re greater than 12 months ago.
  • You have the option to apply for recognition of your participation in, and achievement of, ‘The UQ Employability  Award’ through a simulated recruitment process that consolidates learning and allows you to articulate your employability development prior to your graduation.

What's stayed the same?

  • You can still receive The UQ Employability Award at graduation if you reach minimum requirements and attend the recruitment interview.
    If you were already at 100% at the end of 2016- the interview will be optional.
  • All activities are extra-curricular and not for academic credit.
  • You participate for the duration of your undergraduate degree.
  • You still have access to the exclusive symposium series where you can meet alumni and create valuable networks- registration will now be in StudentHub.
