Uppsala University is the oldest university in Sweden, founded in 1477, where a living cultural heritage frames a fantastic student life. The University is currently ranked among the Top 100 universities worldwide. One famous Uppsala University alumnus is Anders Celsius, inventor of the centigrade scale.

Uppsala is a laid-back city with a large student population. It is very close to Stockholm and offers both picturesque countryside and the vibrancy of a big city. Nearby Old Uppsala was the pagan centre of Sweden during the Middle Ages, where human sacrifice is said to have occurred regularly.
