The Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Rennes - Rennes Institute of Political Studies is part of the Sciences Po group, and combines academic expertise with a rich intellectual environment. Although the eight Sciences Po have the same aims and are based on the same principles, each has its own identity. The main feature of IEP de Rennes lies in its international dimension.

Rennes offers a unique experience with its cultural life and its historical and architectural heritage. Only 2 hours from Paris by train, Rennes is ideally located near many famous places, such as Mont Saint Michel and Saint-Malo.

Full-time study load

30 ECTS credits per semester at IEP de Rennes is equivalent to 8 UQ units.
You are not permitted to study fewer than 30 ECTS at IEP de Rennes.

Host university requirements

GPA
You will need a minimum cumulative GPA of 4.5 to study at IEP de Rennes.

Language
Students wishing to follow the French program at IEP de Rennes will require B2 French language proficiency.

Other Requirements

  • You are not permitted to study fewer than 30 ECTS at IEP de Rennes.
  • Postgraduate students are permitted to study at Rennes, but this option is not recommended by the host.

Accommodation

Sciences Po Rennes offers exchange students on-campus housing in the university hall of residence; however, spaces are very limited. Information on student residences is available under Accommodation on the Daily life in Sciences Po Rennes web page. The University also provides many useful links to help students find off-campus accommodation.

Cost of living

To help students budget for exchange, the university has provided an estimate of the average cost of living in Rennes.

Financial support

A range of funding for student exchange including scholarships, grants and loans are available to UQ students.  

Students undertaking exchange studies in France can apply for the Nicolas Baudin Program through the French Embassy in Canberra.

The University may provide a housing allowance if you meet the necessary student criteria.

Insurance

Students approved to participate in a Semester-based Exchange are automatically covered by UQ’s Travel Insurance for the country of their host university only.

Travel risk levels

The University of Queensland cannot and does not allow students to travel to any country with a risk level of 3 (Reconsider your need to travel) or above, as assessed by the Australian Government.

If a country's risk level changes to 3 or above, experiences to that country are suspended until the risk level improves.
