‘Ingenuity’ is a tried and tested process for creative problem solving and radical (as opposed to incremental) innovation developed at Nottingham University’s Haydn Green Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship The process has a three-fold structure: defining the problem to be solved, identifying a wide range of possibilities, before finally determining the most appropriate solution.

This challenge will see a small team work together to find a solution and submit their idea as a video, to compete for prizes.

Students are encouraged to apply as individual participants. The UQ team will then be selected by the Student Employability Centre.

Support and guidance will be available to the team from the authorised facilitator in the Student Employability Centre, and extra help to create an exceptional video submission will also be available to maximise the chance to win prizes and the chance to further develop the idea into a real-life product or service.

To be eligible for the competition, students must:

  • Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program (undergraduate or honours) at The University of Queensland and remain enrolled for the duration of the program;
  • Be in at least their second year of study (ie. completed at least 6 units of credit) at the time of application, with no Academic Progression Warning(s) within the last 6 units);
  • have a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.0;
