The Council of International Students Australia (CISA) National Education Conference is about empowering international students and celebrating their contribution to the Australian community. The conference program has been planned with a focus to not only provide students with important information but also give them a platform so we can hear what they have to say on a range of different topics.

This conference is targeted towards international student representatives as well as Australian students who have a keen interest and dedication towards supporting and actively representing international student/education issues. Students attending this conference will have a chance to network and engage other international student leaders from across the country.

About CISA

The Council of International Students Australia (CISA) is the peak national student representative organisation for international students studying at the postgraduate, undergraduate, private college, TAFE, ELICOS and foundation level.

CISA are not aligned with any particular political party which allows them the freedom to openly and freely advance their position on issues for the betterment of all international students.


The UQ Student Employability Centre together with UQ International and the UQ Graduate School will fund up to eight selected students registration fee and a travel grant to represent The University of Queensland at the Council of International Students Australia (CISA) National Education Conference.

Successful students will be nominated to attend and have their registration fees covered. A travel grant (amount TBC) is supplied which will contribute to transport and accommodation. UQ will also offer complimentary Travel Insurance for this opportunity.

Students will need to be able to fund the remaining costs including food and activities not included in the conference registration, spending money and transfers.


To be eligible to apply for the CISA National Education Conference, you must:

  • Be currently enrolled UQ students- in a degree program at UQ (i.e. undergraduate, honours, graduate certificate, graduate diploma or coursework masters) or a confirmed RHD candidate, and remain enrolled for the duration of the conference
  • Undergraduate students must have completed at least one full-time semester study and masters students must have completed one full-time semester or equivalent at the time of application
  • RHD candidates must be confirmed at the time of application
  • Be able to travel to the host destination on the selected dates and organise your own travel
  • Complete an activity report within four weeks of completing the program
  • Agree to be photographed and interviewed for promotional purposes

Applications for 2018 are yet to be announced.

You will be required to submit an online application via StudentHub, responding to a number of selection criteria and upload a Resume.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend a group interview at the UQ Student Employability Centre. Individual interviews will not be available for this opportunity.

Successful candidates will be nominated to CISA to represent UQ.
