Applying for exchange

So you've decided you want to apply for a semester-based exchange!

Before you start the application process make sure you have confirmed that you are eligible and know where you want to go.

If you are having difficulty at any stage of the application process, please contact an Internships and Global Experiences Coordinator for help. Do not contact your host institution directly as all enquiries must be made through Global Experiences until you are formally accepted.

8. Meet host country entry requirements

Entry requirements will vary based on your host location, duration of program and your citizenship. You may need a visa/entry permit for any country that you are transiting through to your final destination, even if you do not intend to leave the airport. You will need to research the entry requirements with all relevant foreign consulates or embassies.

You will need to apply for an appropriate visa that will allow you study in your host country. To research your host country's visa requirements you should consult your host country's consulate website and your host university.

On each host university page, you can find a link to your host country's visa information on the 'Visa and travel' tab.
