CIS Australia specialises in the design, development and implementation of Customised Group Programs. The CIS Australia July in New York State program is hosted in the heart of the East Coast at Hartwick College, a prestigious private institution nestled in the scenic beauty of Oneonta, New York.

With a rich history spanning more than two centuries, the college has evolved into a distinguished institution known for its academic excellence, small personalised classes and commitment to providing a well-rounded education. During the program, students will have the opportunity to learn from distinguished professors who are leaders in their respective fields. The curriculum is designed to be dynamic, hands-on, and intensive, providing a well-rounded educational experience in the areas of design, environmental studies and social sciences.

Credit Equivalent

7.5 ECTS = 2 UQ Units. Maximum of 2 UQ Units if course is successfully completed (pending UQ faculty approval).

Eligibility and application

All applicants must meet the UQ short-term experience eligibility criteria and the CIS Australia entry requirements. Students are required to at least have a 4.5 GPA to meet CIS entry requirements.

CIS Australia programs are highly competitive and fill up fast so be sure to get your application in as early as possible.

If you are intending to undertake your experience for-credit, it is strongly recommended that you submit your application to IGET at least 4 weeks before applying to the host to allow sufficient time for Faculty to complete the credit assessment. Please note however that it is your responsibility to meet the host application deadline.

The participation mode of this experience is Study Abroad, meaning you pay tuition directly to the host. The program fee will cost approximately $5,999 AUD and includes tuition, accommodation, meals and class field trips. An additional application fee of $95 AUD will apply.

The program fees include: 

  • CISaustralia support services before, during, and after the program
  • Academic advising

  • Assistance with travel arrangements
  • Pre-departure guide and session
  • Student ID card with access to on-campus facilities and meal plan 
  • 2 day/1 night excursion to NYC (see above for details)
  • Airport pick-up and drop-off (on specified program arrival date within designated arrival times)
  • Accommodation for duration of program (shared rooms on campus)
  • Welcome orientation by Hartwick staff and students
  • A meal plan with 3 meals a day on weekdays and 2 meals a day on weekends 
  • Tuition fees (One x 3 credit course)
  • On-campus internet / wifi
  • Access to gym (weights, equipment, studio for spin classes and yoga), pool, library, and cafeteria.
