Challenges Abroad offers exceptional opportunities to further your life skills and to create incredible experiences, all while helping disadvantaged communities around the world.

Situated amidst the highest mountain range in the world, Nepal is a breathtaking country, but one that experiences many environmental management challenges. Take part in this exciting program and support communities to take local action to care for their environment.

Experience

Despite its natural beauty, much of Nepal’s natural environment has experienced degradation, much of which has been exacerbated by the 2015 April earthquake.

In Kathmandu and surrounding areas, many communities continue to struggle with waste management, particularly in earthquake affected areas where people are living in temporary shelters. Through the program, Challenges Abroad aim to support these communities to develop and implement systems that can help them deal with the issue of waste management, as well as educate people on the environmental impacts to ensure long-term change within the community and society as a whole.

On this program, you will also have the opportunity to work with partner schools to educate children through fun and engaging workshops on topics such as composting, gardening, recycling, climate change and the health impacts of pollution and appropriate waste disposal.
