AustCham Hong Kong is the largest Australian Chamber of Commerce, with over 1,300 member companies with interests in Australia, Hong Kong SAR and Mainland China. AustCham provides additional educational experiences to students who come on board the program and engage with high-level government diplomats, officials, and key industry stakeholders to provide unparallel opportunities for networking and knowledge sharing.

Application Instructions

All applicants must meet the UQ Internship Eligibility Criteria and any other criteria as outlined by the host organisation.

Students are required to apply to both UQ and AustCham Hong Kong via the buttons below.

Students will receive access to their Internships Workflow once their application is approved by the Internships and Global Experiences Team.

Costs & Inclusions

HKD $10,000 (approx. AUD $1,740) is the program fee for UQ students. There is also an HKD $2,500 non-refundable deposit required for applicants. The program fee includes:

  • An internship with one of AustCham Hong Kong's 1,300 member companies
  • Orientation Day to the program to provide you with information on creating an ergonomic setup and guidance and support on how to thrice in your Virtual Internship
  • Host sourcing, matching and assistance with interviews for host organisations
  • Free access to AustCham virtual events throughout your internship
  • Virtual events and webinars designed to support your education, development and learning outcomes of your internship
  • Mentorship check-ins and continued support from AustCham during your internship to provide guidance and assistance where required

Funding

New Colombo Plan Virtual Mobility Grant

Eligible students are considered for one of eight AUD$1,325 New Colombo Plan Virtual Mobility Grants for AustCham Hong Kong Virtual Internships in Hong Kong SAR

When you submit your application to the Internships and Global Experiences team, you are automatically considered. There is no additional application required. Applicants will need to submit supporting documentation (host acceptance, bank details) by the relevant deadline.  

This grant is not guaranteed even if all selection criteria are met. Students who are due to graduate at the end of semester 2, 2021 will not be eligible for this grant. 

Credit for Internships

Some students may be able to receive credit towards their UQ program pending faculty approval. The Global Experiences Team is unable to provide further advice regarding internships for credit.
