AustCham's internship program engages young professionals in a variety of different positions and exposes them to the diverse opportunities within the Australia-China relationship. 

AustCham Beijing interns are given the opportunity to work alongside a passionate and innovative team dedicated to assisting companies doing business in China. Interns are immersed in an environment that deals with a membership of well accomplished Australian business leaders in China. The organisation is governed by a Board of Directors representing some of Australia’s leading companies in the region.

    Visa Information

    It is your responsibility to ensure you have the correct visa for the country where you will be studying. As the Global Experiences Team is not a visa-issuing authority we cannot provide visa advice.

    Eligibility and application

    All applicants must meet the basic short-term experience eligibility criteria

    Chinese citizens are welcome to apply, as well as non-Chinese-speaking students.

    This is a competitive program. Students will be selected by an internal selection committee from the Student Employability Centre and AustCham in China.

    All students must complete the Short Term Global Experience online application and upload the following documents as part of that application:

    • A Curriculum Vitae (1 page maximum) that details your program of study and your prior work experience.
    • A Cover Letter that identifies exactly which internship (of the 7 above) you are pursuing and addresses why you wish to participate in the internship (1 page maximum).

    Successful candidates will be notified by 17th May 2019.

    Cost

    There is no placement fee for UQ students as per UQ’s Corporate Membership with AustCham Beijing.

    Participants will need to cover the following costs:

    • Round trip Flights
    • Visa
    • Accommodation and meals in China
    • Personal spending money (e.g. shopping, transportation cost for personal travel…etc.)

    Applicants may also be eligible for UQ-specific funding.

    Accommodation 

    Accommodation is not included in the program.

    Insurance

    UQ students participating in a Global Experience through UQ are automatically covered by UQ's travel insurance in the country of the Global Experience. Chinese citizens returning to China for their Global Experience, please note that “Benefits payable under UQ’s travel insurance policy may be reduced if travellers are covered by their home country’s medical benefits/scheme due to residence requirements.”

    OS-HELP Loan

    If you participate in a short-term program you may also be eligible to submit an application for an OS-HELP loan if your program is for-credit and you are enrolled as a Commonwealth supported student.
