Architectural Association School of Architecture Summer School
The AA Summer School 2023 presents a programme of design studios, field study, seminars and lectures that emphasises the importance of both practice and theory in contemporary architecture.
Based on the AA’s unit system, it offers participants a selection of varying design approaches, agendas and techniques, and represents a uniquely intensive and intimate environment that aims to expand formal and intellectual resources. Tutors, lecturers and critics include past and present AA unit masters as well as professionals pooled from disciplines as diverse as fashion, art, graphics, industrial design, urbanism and film. The course is for current and prospective architectural students from around the world. It offers an approach to architectural design for motivated students interested in exploring architecture as an extended field of research.

Credit equivalent
2 UQ Units. Maximum of 2 UQ Units if the course is successfully completed (pending UQ faculty approval). Bachelor of Architectural Design students may be eligible for 2 units of unspecified Level 1 elective credit.

Eligibility and application
All applicants must meet the short-term experience eligibility criteria and the Architectural Association School of Architecture entry requirements.
If you are intending to undertake your experience for-credit, it is strongly recommended that you submit your application to IGET at least 4 weeks before applying to the host to allow sufficient time for Faculty to complete the credit assessment. Please note however that it is your responsibility to meet the host application deadline.
This experience impacts UQ semester 2 teaching dates. UQ students must meet the additional special conditions for programs that impact teaching dates.
Cost
The participation mode of this experience is Study Abroad. Tuition for the program will cost approximately $2,900 AUD including the digital membership fee desposit. Early bird fees are available.

Accommodation
Accommodation is not included in the program fee. Participants are required to organize and book their own accommodation.
